The challenge
Cybersecurity analysts and OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) practitioners rely on pseudonymous virtual identities—commonly known as “sock puppets”—to conduct online investigations discreetly. However, creating and maintaining these identities across multiple platforms is:
Extremely time-consuming
Technically complex
Risky due to detection by platforms and attribution to the analyst
Virtual private investigators also need infrastructure that mimics typical consumer usage in specific global regions, including mobile IPs and localized phone numbers, to maintain credibility and prevent bans.
My role
I was responsible for the full UX/UI design and web development of SocketPuppet.io, with a focus on:
Communicating a highly technical product in a visual, digestible format
Creating a scalable, flexible CMS for future content expansion (blogs, FAQs, pages)
Collaborating with the founders to reflect their deep domain expertise in a user-centric interface
Design Goals
Visual storytelling: Motion graphics and iconography to explain technical features
Lead generation: Strong CTAs, HubSpot CRM integration, and a clear pricing model
SEO-ready: Structured content optimized for targeted keywords like #OSINTforgood, Sock Puppets, Managed Attribution, Cybercrime Investigations
Easy to update: Built on a no-code/low-code platform (Framer) with flexible templates
Visual Language & Structure
Inspired by industry-leading websites like Skopenow, I designed SocketPuppet.io to:
Use dark, professional tones mixed with accent colors for clarity and urgency
Present animated diagrams that explain how the service works in 3 steps
Break down complex OSINT jargon into plain-language benefits
Include visual pricing tables and comparison grids to guide conversions
Integrate CRM and newsletter flows seamlessly
Key Pages & Features
Product Overview – Illustrated explanation of the core features with diagrammatic flow
Pricing Page – Tier-based packages with clear feature breakdowns and FAQs
About / Contact Page – Team philosophy, mission for ethical OSINT, and CRM integration
Blog & FAQ Templates – Easily updatable content hub for SEO and knowledge sharing
Results
Attracted inbound interest from multiple law enforcement and OSINT-focused orgs
Achieved strong engagement and click-through from targeted social campaigns
Reduced friction in the sales funnel with a clearer product narrative and pricing
Enabled the internal team to maintain and scale the site without developer support
