Overview
Roma Altruista is a non-profit that connects volunteers with meaningful opportunities to help their local community. Their goal is simple but powerful: make it easy for anyone to do good in Rome. When they reached out, they needed a digital presence that reflected the warmth and energy of their work—while being intuitive for both volunteers and partner organizations to navigate.
My role
I was responsible for the full UI redesign of the website—starting from the UX structure all the way to the final UI and responsive design. The new site was built entirely in Figma, with the goal of creating a clear, joyful, and trustworthy experience.
The Challenge
The old website was dated and visually cluttered. It didn’t reflect the diversity and impact of the organization, and users (especially first-time volunteers) often got lost trying to find events or understand how to get involved. We needed to rethink the structure, prioritize accessibility, and give the brand a more modern, human feel.

The Process
We started with a deep dive into the user flow—who visits the site, what they need, and how they move through the pages. Based on that, I redesigned the navigation to make volunteering the central call to action, while still giving visibility to events, partnerships, and ways to support the project.
Visually, I introduced a clean grid, soft but vibrant color accents, and playful illustrations to make the experience feel welcoming and approachable. Typography and spacing were carefully chosen to ensure clarity, even for older users or those unfamiliar with digital platforms.

The Design System
Given the high percentage of users accessing the site from mobile devices, I took a mobile-first approach to layout and interaction. The design system is flexible and scalable, making it easier for the Roma Altruista team to maintain the site and evolve it over time.

The outcome
The result is a friendly, purpose-driven website that makes it easy for anyone in Rome to take action—whether it’s volunteering for a day, supporting the cause, or joining a long-term initiative. The redesign has improved clarity, boosted signups, and given the organization a fresh digital presence aligned with its mission.
